Who is The Cannenburgh?
Almost seventy years ago, Contractor The Cannenburgh has been established
and was the first contractor to aquire the “Certified Main Contractor” status in Amsterdam. A lot
has changed during those seventy years, besides the professional skills of their employees. They are
proud of their craft and work attentively and carefully at the beautifull monumental buildings.
In the building business, The Cannenburgh is a respected name
meaning traditional quality and perfectionism. The company has grown to a well-known restoration
contractor and is since mid-2005 one of the thirty-two Certified Restoration Construction Firms in
the Netherlands.

“I could have chosen to expand my own building company, but looking at the
present market circumstances I thought it would be better to buy a company. I have been searching
for a company that fits me. Originally, I come from the building trade. I especially prefer
restoration work. Maybe it sounds corny, but I like a piece of preservation of the past. Walking
along the Amsterdam canals with buildings from 1650, I think that’s
magnificent.” |

The Cannenburgh is specialised in restoration and renovating
monumental buildings. When we are restorating a monumental building, we respect the original
details. When restoring, a building is adjusted and renewed. For this kind of work, you need
craftsmen. People kwo know the ropes and know that in this type of building not everything is
outright. In The Cannenburgh you find these specialists. From main executor to carpenter and from
manager to student.

“All the peolple working here are dedicated to their work. They love their work. It
is no mass work. Our approach is very personal. The customer gets our complete attention and that
aspect is closely interwoven in the company. That is how The Cannenburgh distinguishes itself from
other contracting companies. I regularly visit Almere. That place is full of newly built houses.
That is mass work. I could not do that. I often say: you shouldn’t let a contractor of newly-build
houses restorate and you also shouldn’t let a restorating contractor build new
houses.” |
